Position Summary

The Procurement Center of Excellence (COE) has been implemented to support the organization by managing key activities as they relate to overall Global Procurement strategy, processes, technology, specialized projects, metrics and communications at UGI.  

 

This group within the Global Procurement is a support function; the Principal has the responsibility for coordinating activities and deliverables for the broader procurement team.

 

The COE is organized by eight (8) primary capability areas: 

  • Governance: Policies, procedures, tools, and templates
  • Supplier Relationship/Risk Management (SRM): Supplier lifecycle management, supplier performance, qualification, risk management, safety, communications, change management, diversity, and inclusion
  • Category Management: Best practices and world-class standards in sourcing, Contracting, Category Management and Strategy.  
  • Procurement Operations: Purchase Requisition, Purchase Order, Contract Execution, Supplier On-Boarding, and Accounts Payable  
  • Procurement Technology: SAP Ariba, ERPs, S2P enablement and enhancements
  • Master Data Management (MDM): Spend/supplier/material master data, performance, compliance, and reporting
  • People: Best in-class training and enablement of Global procurement FTE through the development and management of training program that will support talent development for Procurement personnel
  • Supplier Diversity & ESG: Work closely with leadership to establish Supplier Diversity and ESG goals for Global procurement portfolio of suppliers.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and execution of strategies that enable a world-class Procurement COE function. Develops and manages a comprehensive set of Procurement operational reports to optimize center and site business decision-making regarding spend management, savings delivery, inventory management, supplier management, and risk management.
  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies, including sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Develop a mindset of continuous improvement, identify opportunities through ideation to optimize procurement processes and improve efficiency.
  • Lead complex project procurement activities for the Global Procurement COE.
  • Lead complex sourcing activities for UGI and it’s group of companies.
  • Coordinates the development of all procurement policies and procedures with the Global Procurement Leadership Team (GPLT).
  • Manages and reports on internal KPIs, including but not limited to Value Delivery, Compliance, Process Efficiency and Diversity.
  • Support the design, development, and execution of strategies that enable a world-class Procurement COE function. Develops and manages a comprehensive set of Procurement operational reports to optimize center and site business decision-making regarding spend management, savings delivery, inventory management, supplier management, and risk management.
  • Develops and manages a training program that will support talent development for Procurement.
  • Establishes, implements and manages best practice procurement governance and governance management practices.
  • Manages the development and execution of a consistent global procurement performance model that accurately defines and measures procurement effectiveness, savings, synergies, and other performance and compliance results.
  • Perform additional task as assigned and defined by the CPO and VP, Head of Global Procurement. (Chief-of-Staff accountability).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record of development, enablement, and enhancement of a Global Procurement COE.
  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain management practices.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems and systems management.
  • Cross functional experiences (Sales, Marketing, or Supply Chain) is a plus.
  • Strong strategic focus – vision and results oriented.
  • Strong project management and process skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – including strong persuasion & influence skills.
  • Demonstrated business/financial acumen.
  • Strong communication skills (both written & verbal).
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, able to motivate and develop people.
  • Strong bias for action.
  • Strong program management, project management and leadership experience within a transforming procurement or supply chain organization, or COE.
  • Experience with Procurement analytics and relevant KPI’s.
  • Results-driven mindset and capabilities, adept at resource prioritization, target setting, budgeting and business case development.
  • Motivated, high-energy, curious self-starter, strong business mindset; proven change agent with excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College Graduate BS in business related major.
  • Advanced degree a plus.
  • 6-8 Years.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or equivalent desirable.
