Position Specific Summary
The Senior Court Clerk position at City of Tucson’s City Courts is responsible for training staff, monitoring, and working with management regarding the progress of trainees, along with performing clerical and customer service work while learning all areas of the Department and cross-training to support the daily operations of the Division/Section. Additionally, Senior Court Clerks are assigned additional duties to monitor and perform on a regular basis, along with providing administrative and clerical support to judges and attorneys to ensure accurate and efficient case processing.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Court Supervisor. This position leads and instructs the daily operational work of court personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists the public over the phone, via email and in person, providing information regarding case status, motion status, hearing dates, due dates for mandates, records requests, and other general court questions.
Assists magistrates in the process of their work in the courtroom and in chambers by preparing and distributing minute entries and orders, operating courtroom devices such as digital recording, AV systems, etc., and in conducting the business of court hearings.
Performs a variety of data entry input and research tasks with the case management system ensuring accuracy, completeness and data integrity. Tasks may include case initiation, updating, case closure, data cleanup, records retrieval, etc.
Leads in records management process, assists court clerks in the prescribed duties – i.e., processing records requests and priority requests by researching information in the court’s case management system, monitoring the email proxy and maintaining records request program, and archiving files and court records according to their appropriate retention period.
Efficiently and effectively trains clerks in department functions/duties, answering questions and assisting other clerks as needed.
Accurately performs payment transactions, receipting, and money handling
Operates special programs, such as home detention monitoring, protective order petition process, warrant quash events, etc.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
Mostly office environment
Some positions may require night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalentWork Experience: One (1) year of relevant experience.
License/Certifications: A valid and unrestricted driver’s license with two (2) years of licensed driving is required.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience administrative support, customer service.
Competent experience and skill with the Automated Justice Administration Case System (AJACs)
