Business Data Specialist
$99,127 - $122,918 / year minimum starting pay

Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. What You Will Be Doing:
Extract, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to generate valuable insights and support data-driven decision-making. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, play a crucial role in providing actionable insights and recommendations that drive business growth and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Proven experience (4+ years) as a Data Analyst or Insurance Business Analyst or a similar role, with a focus on analyzing complex data sets and providing actionable insights typically required.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling techniques, such as regression analysis, time series analysis, clustering, or classification.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and scripting.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modeling principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and derive practical solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large and complex data sets.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Expertise with insurance industry practices and metrics, in one or more areas (underwriting, claims, agencies, sales, actuarial, financial operations)
- Experience with Github, dbtLabs is desired.
- Experience with Data Catalog & lineage tool is desired.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
