General Description: The Cafeteria Manager directs and participates in all food service operations in the assigned school according to federal, state and local policies.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and/or performs the duties of cafeteria workers
  • Plans and coordinates the work effort of food service staff
  • Supervises and assists in the preparation and cooking of food to ensure proper temperature, palatability, and appearance of food
  • Serves well balanced, nutritious meals to students
  • Promotes the educational aspects of the program to students, teachers and the community
  • Determines the types and quantities of food and supplies needed, and purchases and supervises the receipt and storage of all food and supplies
  • Assists in hiring food service personnel
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates each employee in accepted food service practices and health codes
  • Performs frequent inspection of mechanical equipment and reports issues
  • Supervises the upkeep and sanitation of all food and nutrition facilities and equipment
  • Maintains financial records and menus 
  • Prepares communications and reports, as needed
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Successful experience in large capacity food service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training in Food Service

This is a 183 day position/7.5 hr per day position.
