Job Contributions and Key Responsibilities

 

General Labor

  • Responsible for strategic planning, supplier selection, consolidation, qualification, sourcing, cost reduction and value analysis initiatives.
  • Participate in the development of budget requests.
  • Monitor expenditures in accordance with budget allocations/appropriation.
  • Recommend and/or initiate cost savings measures.

 

Purchasing / The Store

  • Manage all US supply purchases, including steel, hoop and mulch plastic, heavy equipment, fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, harvest supplies and substrate materials.
  • Oversee monthly assessments and forecasts of the district operational performance against budget. Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), Job Plan Goals.
  • Oversee and analyze pricing proposals and provide all quotes for estimating.
  • Work with operations on forecasting and planning to maintain low inventory runs.
  • Manage SCM staff responsible for purchasing and SCM for Oxnard, Santa Maria, Watsonville, and US regional (including Canada).
  • Purchasing System
  • Collaborate with Director, Supply Chain Management to assist in the development of software tools, including but not limited to, report development, master procurement data maintenance, and cell phone apps.
  • Maintain, monitor and track key performance indicators (KPI’s) – service level, grower participation, dollar savings.

 

Grower Supply Group Services

  • Maintain relationship with growers for products and services.
  • Manage additional services such as providing fuel, drinking water, sanitation, ranch maintenance, watering roads, moving equipment and supplies, etc.

 

Land Preparation

  • Direct and manage the Ground Preparation business capital; planning the strategic direction of the operation. Responsible for managing the financial aspects of the business by controlling and planning expenses.
  • Develop comprehensive production calendar for partners and wholly owned RAC growers that allows efficient, clear and timely coordination of ground preparation and bed-up operation within a March to August window.
  • Manage equipment maintenance. Ensure that equipment is ready and available (to include rentals) within a timely manner to guarantee timely preparation of field in-line with planting dates, etc.
  • Solicit and contract services out third party for profit opportunities.
  • Manage, monitor and evaluate the performance of the Manager, Land Preparation Oxnard/Santa Maria and all staff associated with land preparation. Manages the Watsonville Land Preparation operation by supervision of the District Manager.
  • Learn and implement the latest and best current production practices from within the RAC organization, as well as from universities and outside industry resources. Develop advance knowledge and innovations that deliver competitive advantage.

 

Shop and Sanitation Services

  • Direct and manage the Shop Services business capital; plans the strategic direction of the operation.
  • Manage financial aspects of the business by controlling and planning expenses.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and grower base including arrangement of safety training.
  • Develop and empower personnel and measure their performance toward established goals.
  • Manage the District Managers and Lead for the Shops.
  • Oversee the establishment of production schedules for all commodities to meet grower demands including on-time delivery on lead times at the lowers possible cost.
  • Assure efficient and economical utilization of tools, equipment and materials and works to improve methods of elimination of wasteful practices within the operation.
  • Promote effective working relationships between District Managers, shop staff, growers and the vendor base.
  • Establish objectives and goals in conjunction with District Managers and Shop Leads.
  • Manage the implementation of a GPS and Asset/Maintenance Management software with the goal of electronically manage, via GPS, the locations and maintenance of over vehicle units in California to ensure proper use and
  • maintenance of equipment.
  • Manage day-to-day sanitation protocols through third party service.
  • Perform regular site inspections of units.
  • Negotiate set rates for wholly owned and partnerships operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Farming industry and issues, ideally within the State of California, preferred.
  • Create new and unique ideas and an entrepreneurial spirit a plus.
  • Communicate fluently and proficiency (verbal, written, and presentation) in English and Spanish. Knowledge of additional languages maybe useful.
  • Demonstrate outstanding stewardship and relationship building/management skills to expand the mission of Reiter Affiliated Companies.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor.
  • Proficiently use Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations.
  • Demonstrate outstanding judgment and mature business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with senior management.

 

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Years of Experience: 

Minimum 5 years of experience.

 

Licenses: If driving is a necessary part of a job employees are required to possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Languages: 

English >95%

 

Necessary Software:

Microsoft Office Suite - Intermediate

 

Travel Requirements:

Ability to travel 25 percent of the time – domestic and 5% - international

 

Pay Scale: $127,300 to $140,200
