Join our Information Technology Bureau
We’re looking for a dedicated individual to join our team of security professionals within the Information Technology Bureau. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with a dynamic group committed to fostering a culture of teamwork, technical and professional excellence, and positive self-management. As a key contributor, you’ll play a vital role in upholding the core principles of the CIA Triad—Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability—ensuring the protection and resilience of District data.

This role is considered remote, which means the employee will be required to come on-site for periodic meetings and work a portion of their time remotely (must live in Florida). Starting Compensation
Business Application Developer 2 $61,254.00 - $84,422.50
Business Application Developer 3 $66,180.00 - $91,203.50
Business Application Developer 4 $71,460.00 - $98,476.00
The starting salary range for the Business Application Developer position reflects the minimum to 50% of the compensation. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.
Essential Functions
- Security Validation & Audits: Conduct regular code reviews and security audits of custom applications to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with current security standards.
- Secure Code Validation: Work with development teams to review and validate custom application code. Conduct security audits and penetration testing to identify and fix vulnerabilities before deployment.
- Security Road Mapping: Develop and manage security roadmaps for custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications and their underlying platforms, including .NET, Python, and R-Studio environments. This involves planning for platform upgrades, patching cycles, remediating Zero-Day Vulnerabilities, CVE's, incorporating new security features, and Upgrades.
- Platform Security: Harden and secure key platforms, including Windows Server Operating Systems, IIS web servers, and SQL Server databases. This includes configuring security settings, implementing access controls, and managing encryption protocols and encryption requirements to ensure the confidentiality of data stored on District systems and in hosted environments.
- Protocol Management: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security protocols such as TLS and HTTPS across all web-facing applications and services to ensure secure data transmission.
- Threat Modeling & Prevention: Participate in threat modeling exercises with development teams to identify potential security risks early in the development process. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Incident Response: Collaborate with the Security and CSIRT teams to develop, maintain, exercise and execute security incident response plans, including vulnerability patching, system recovery, and forensic analysis.
- Automation & Tooling: Implement security automation tools within the CI/CD pipeline to automatically scan for vulnerabilities in code and infrastructure, and to streamline security processes in addition to proving and implementing AI-Driven tools to gain efficiencies in code development, troubleshooting, and workflows.
- Policy & Compliance: Ensure all development and operational practices adhere to established security policies and regulations. Maintain documentation of security controls and compliance activities.
Working Conditions
Employee works in a standard office environment. Occasional travel usually during the workday is required. Performs continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally requires bending and reaching above shoulder level. Possible travel to other offices. Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours, or required to be on call, including on nights, weekends or holidays, to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.

Application Process
The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application. All applicants are required to complete, in full, the District employment application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants who are within 30 days of graduation, if selected are not allowed to start until all minimum qualifications are met. This position is also eligible for relocation reimbursement, limited to moving expenses, upon meeting mileage and program criteria.
Additional Details
This position is based out of the Brooksville, FL office, however remote/hybrid work is available (must live in Florida). This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours, in a week.
