THE POSITION

Under general supervision, the Equipment Services Specialist performs preventative and semi-skilled work such as:
  • maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment 
  • repairs or replaces conventional, medium duty tires
  • tests and repairs starting and charging systems
  • recharge batteries
  • inspection of motorized and mechanical equipment 
  • performs preventative maintenance for all equipment 
  • and performs related duties as required
This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position that reports to the Equipment Mechanic.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE 

Education:  Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:  

  • Graduation from High School or GED supplemented by mechanical trade courses 
Experience: 
  • One year of preventative maintenance experience with automotive and power driven equipment required 
  • Prior experience with a Fleet Management Software is highly desirable 
Licenses Requirements:Possession of, a valid California Class C Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required at time of appointment. 

Knowledge of:Tools, equipment, techniques, and procedures used in the maintenance, repair and adjustment of automotive, construction, 2 cycle and other heavy equipment; lubricating oils and greases. 

Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform preventative maintenance, make basic mechanical repairs, and to assist in the more difficult repairs of a wide variety of automotive and power driven equipment; skills in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing the more routine faulty operating and mechanical troubles; ability to keep accurate records and assist in preparing reports on the preventative maintenance program; follow oral and written instructions; use independent judgment in recognizing and resolving problems dealing with the preventative maintenance program; ability to read and comprehend automotive and equipment maintenance and repair manuals. 

Physical Effort:Performs tasks requiring physical effort including bending, stooping, and heavy lifting.
