KP731 - Full-Time Chef - NYC/LA chez British American Household Staffing

An international family with homes on both the East (NYC) and West Coast (LA) are seeking an exceptional full-time chef, starting ASAP. The expectation is that the candidate will provide lunch and dinner for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 2 and 1), as well as a nanny, 2 housekeepers, and a house manager, 5 days per week. The candidate will have 2 consecutive days off each week, but these will likely not fall on Saturday and Sunday outside of the Summer months (during the Summer, days off will generally be Saturday and Sunday). 

This is a fully-staffed household, and this position requires flexibility to travel between both residences – candidates should be based in NYC, and housing will be provided in LA.

• The family follows a low-sugar diet, so candidates should be able to prepare delicious food within this remit
• Keeping the fridges, freezers, and produce cupboards tidy and up to date
• Keeping track of inventory
• Grocery shopping
• Cleaning up the kitchen at the end of each day
• Generally, keeping everything in order

• 5-8+ years' verifiable experience working in a similar role
• The ideal candidate will approach their work with calm, warmth, professionalism and organization
• The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on using fresh, organic, seasonal produce sourced from local farmers’ markets whenever possible.
• Experience preparing international cuisine is highly valued.
• No ego, and be open to feedback
• Be polished and well groomed, able to work harmoniously with a team and be comfortable reporting to the house manager.
• Have a solid understanding of nutrition and be able to provide nutritional guidance

• Experience creating a delicious, low sugar menu
• Discretion, professionalism, and a positive, professional attitude are essential
• Must have a US passport, Green Card or EAC 
• Available to start ASAP
• Must be flexible and willing to travel domestically and internationally
