Arriva Rail London are on the hunt for a Performance and Technical Engineer Trainee to join their Engineering team!

Reporting into the Engineering & Assurance Manager, you will work to ensure safety, reliability and performance targets are met on London Overground fleets, working closely with the Fleet Management team and third-party suppliers with the goal of developing improvement plans for the London Overground.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering graduate or apprentice, who has had some experience with fleet maintenance within the railway.

Responsibilities:

• You will be supporting the Fleet Managers with investigating safety, reliability and performance issues, whilst reviewing all incident reports within the control log and remedial actions and records to ensure compliance with relevant processes, standards and approvals.

• The Performance & Technical Engineer will be responsible for compiling data for the concession report and contract reviews as directed, whilst also analysing all performance data to identify failure trends; develop rectification, performance and engineering plans including necessary modifications to address those issues.

• Identification of opportunities to develop maintenance, modifications or processes will also be a key task for this role, with the goal of improving and supporting the development of the Fleet elements of the Arriva Rail London's Safety, Quality and Environment Management system as required.

• You will attend reliability and performance meetings as directed by the Head of Engineering or the Fleet Managers and will deputise the other Performance and Technical Engineer.

Qualifications:

• The Performance & Technical Engineer will ideally have an Engineering qualification, either a degree or apprenticeship.

• Experience of working within fleet maintenance would be highly advantageous, as well as experience working within Rail industry legal framework - including group standards.

• Proven track record of stakeholder management and engagement, specifically within persuasion, you will need to be an excellent communicator with the ability to influence others and work well under pressure.

• Any knowledge of rolling stock would be highly beneficial, as well as Arriva Rail London, Network Rail route geography.

• You will need excellent literacy skills and political awareness, as well as strong IT literacy and attention to detail.
