About the Department
Position Duties
Possesses strong communication skills including interactions with the public, employees, and other individuals in person and on the telephone; answers questions regarding departmental programs and services; refers consumers to appropriate staff or programs.
Assures high-level of customer service and efficient workflow while performing reception duties; emphasizes the department core values of welcoming, ethical, compassion, appreciation, respect, and excellence.
Exhibits exceptional organizational skills to complete administrative responsibilities; sorts and delivers mail, faxes, scans, and uploads documents; issues emergency food share cards and vouchers; enters referrals for economic support services; maintains the lobby space of the department.
Demonstrates proficiency in grammar and attention to detail in order to assist in the creation of Operations weekly updates and monthly newsletters to staff; updates information such as TV slides, brochures, and brochures displayed in the lobby area; provides back-up support for records management duties.
Applies strong collaboration skills to establish effective working relationships with consumers, department staff, other county staff, and professionals.
Demonstrates ability to remain calm and respectful when interacting and responding to volatile individuals.
Exhibits skills in the use of personal computer operations; enters, maintains, and updates data for a variety of Human Services programs; uses of a variety of standard and specialized software programs.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of previous full-time general office/clerical experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in personal computer use with Microsoft Office software.
- Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of a credit check,criminal and caregiver background checks.
- Must have valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and access to private transportation for work-related duties.
- Must possess and maintain personal automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000.
Other Qualifications
Five (5) years of previous experience in full-time general office/clerical experience.
Experience working in reception in a Human Services Department or related workplace.
