Who We Are
Nuro is a self-driving technology company on a mission to make autonomy accessible to all. Founded in 2016, Nuro is building the world’s most scalable driver, combining cutting-edge AI with automotive-grade hardware. Nuro licenses its core technology, the Nuro Driver™, to support a wide range of applications, from robotaxis and commercial fleets to personally owned vehicles. With technology proven over years of self-driving deployments, Nuro gives the automakers and mobility platforms a clear path to AVs at commercial scale, empowering a safer, richer, and more connected future.
About the Role
Nuro adopts a data-driven and machine-learning-first approach to autonomous driving technology. Our system's performance relies on the quantity and diversity of its training and evaluation data. To support future scalability in production deployment, you’ll transform how we identify and capture critical data from our autonomous vehicles. By developing and deploying a state-of-the-art scenario understanding stack into onboard systems and leveraging ML models, your work will empower us to collect the most valuable scenarios. The efficiency and performance of this stack are essential for retaining both known and emerging critical scenarios.
About the Work
- Develop and optimize Linux-based systems within our vehicles.
- Collaborate with software teams to create compute-intensive libraries, focusing on low-latency and consistent performance.
- Build advanced real-time scenario understanding and scoring systems onboard.
- Develop cutting-edge machine learning models, optimizing and deploying them to capture long-tail scenarios.
- Design data logging strategies to maximize the relevance and value of retained data.
- Develop continuous testing and validation systems to ensure the robustness and comprehensiveness of the scene understanding stack.
About You
- MS/PhD in Computer Science with 4+ years of equivalent industry experience in developing production-quality software in C/C++, Python in areas like self-driving, robotics, low latency, and mission-critical systems.
- Ability and willingness to deep dive into implementation, driving technical standards and best practices acrossa broader software organization
- Proven experience in setting product and technical vision, defining project timelines, and driving prioritization. Demonstrated leadership as a formal or informal Tech Lead, mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
