The Manager, Medical Affairs will lead the Neurology therapeutic area in Portugal. Working cross-functionally to ensure the strategic alignment and execution of medical and scientific activities within Bial, will act as a bridge between the company and the broader medical community, ensuring added value to the whole healthcare system through effective collaborations and scientific data communication.

 

The Impact You’ll Make

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Medical Science Liaisons and Medical Affairs Advisors in the therapeutic area, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment;
  • Provide guidance and support team members, ensuring their professional development;
  • Be responsible for the design and execution of an annual medical plan for specific products in alignment with other Bial departments (Commercial, Marketing, Market Access, Global Medical Affairs), including budget execution;
  • Work closely with other Bial departments to ensure strategies and tactics address the needs of the patients, health professionals and health systems;
  • Lead the preparation and review of scientific publications;
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other Healthcare Professionals, driving scientific exchange on the appropriate understanding of the company’s portfolio and associated therapeutic area;
  • Plan and conduct national medical education initiatives;
  • Drive local real-world evidence collection (including designing, conducting and analysing local observational studies) and collaborate in global clinical studies as needed
  • Identify data gaps and opportunities that may lead to real‐world‐evidence data generation and publications;
  • Collaborate with Experts and Patient Advocacy Groups to understand their needs and maximize the impact of planned medical initiatives on patient outcomes;
  • Represent Bial at national and international scientific conferences, as required;
  • Provide medical support to Regulatory and Market Access departments during submission or review of product dossiers and reimbursement discussions;
  • Keep up to date and critically evaluate literature, interpret complex data, and adapt delivery of information to a variety of audiences;
  • Monitor competitor activities and stay up-to-date on the latest medical research and trends in the therapeutic area.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • MD, PharmD or PhD in Life Sciences;
  • 3+ Years of experience in Medical Affairs, preferably in Neurosciences or Movement Disorders;
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and guide career development;
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships with KOLs, healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders in a complex matrix environment;
  • Ability to analyse complex scientific data and insights from clinical practice and translate it into actionable strategies for the Medical Plan;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both 1-to-1 and 1-to-many settings, including presenting complex topics to audiences with varying degrees of expertise;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and can-do mentality.
