Manufacturing
Equipment Engineer – North Carolina
Continuous improvement of semiconductor processing equipment within a cleanroom
environment
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures Fab equipment and processes meet throughput, yield, safety, and efficiency objectives.
- Develop and documents procedures to sustain and evolve equipment performance through data analysis.
- Effectively communicates progress to goals through presentations and ongoing reviews.
- Initiates Escalations for hard down equipment through to recovery (owns history, status, plans, and communication 24x7 until resolved).
- Plans and manages capital equipment procurements, space, installations, commissioning, and upgrades.
- Reasonable expectation of response during off hours in support of production.
- Maintains necessary records, reports, calibrations, parts inventory-reordering parts.
- Leads in the investigation and resolution of complex equipment related process problems.
- Proactively drives safe practices within the factory, supports and follows site safety policies.
- Works in clean room environment wearing clean room garments.
- Communicates day-to-day events, direction, and repairs both written and verbally, through logs and pass downs.
- Positively influences and supports others to succeed in their roles.
- Some travel for external training or source inspection of equipment is required as needed.
Key Competencies Required:
- Language Skills: Must be able to communicate fluently in English: verbally, in writing.
- Computer Skills: Must be proficient in the MS Office suite of products, strong keyboard skills.
- Decision-making and troubleshooting skills are very important.
- CAD and Project skills preferred.
- Familiarity with handling hazardous materials such as gases and chemicals.
- High degree of machine knowledge to the expert level.
- Mentor/Trainer/Leader.
Previous Relevant Work Experience:
- Experience managing relationships with external suppliers, contractors, and development partners.
- Experience with capital equipment procurement, capacity planning, and throughput modelling.
- Proof of success in continuous improvement of semiconductor fab manufacturing equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Chemical or Industrial discipline – may be offset with experience or combination of experience and associate’s degree.
- 2 years of experience in a similar role in a semiconductor fab.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs., work in awkward positions, walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
- Willing and able to become a member of the Emergency Response Team.
