Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our Discovery Biology Department as a Director – Sr. Directorand work as part of a team to drive success. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, independent, committed to the generation of high-quality data within a fast-paced and innovative research team. This role is ideal for a scientific leader with deep expertise in molecular biology, RNA therapeutics, or gene modulation technologies, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
As Director-Sr. Director, you will shape and drive strategic discovery programs from early target validation through to clinical candidate nomination.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Scientific Leadership & Strategy
- Provide strategic and scientific leadership across RNA-editing drug discovery programs.
- Define biology strategy aligned with corporate goals and pipeline priorities.
- Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations for internal project teams, leadership team, and external audience.
- Program Oversight
- Lead cross-functional discovery teams from early validation through IND-enabling stages.
- Design and oversee execution of cell-based, biochemical, and in vivo assays to support SAR and mechanistic understanding.
- Innovation & Technology Development
- Carry out assigned laboratory functions applying knowledge and skill in an accurate, timely manner.
- Partner with Functional Genomics to identify and evaluate novel targets amenable to RNA editing.
- Champion adoption of innovative platforms and models to improve translation and reduce timelines.
- Team Building & Mentorship
- Develop and promote a work place culture that values diversity of thought, promote integrity and create an atmosphere that supports coaching and fosters accountability.
- Hire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of scientists and research associates.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as key biology lead on multidisciplinary program teams including chemistry, pharmacology, and translational science members.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with critical collaborative partners throughout the company.
- Present program updates to executive leadership, partners, and at scientific conferences.
- Manage external collaborations and CROs to drive timelines and deliverables.
- Maintain updated and well-organized lab notebooks.
- Execute daily laboratory operations with an approach designed to minimize risks and hazard waste streams.
- Maintain all appropriate corporate standards for facility safety and hazardous material management.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or related field.
- 10–15+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated success advancing discovery programs from concept to candidate nomination.
- Understanding of project timelines and deliverables and plans/coordinate project work accordingly with departmental, functional, and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire project teams; experience managing scientists and working with CROs/academic collaborators.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards exploring new approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation of complex scientific data to cross-functional and senior management teams are essential for this role.
- Broad knowledge of scientific experience with track record of scientific achievement demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience executing verification studies is required.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite Products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep expertise in molecular and cellular assay development; experience with RNA-editing or gene therapy modalities is a strong plus.
- A track-record of impacting drug discovery programs through driving projects to key decision points.

Compensation:
- This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, occasional overtime.

- Compensation: The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual target bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, type and length of experience within the industry, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
- Total Compensation: Includes base salary; benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; 401(k) matching program; paid time off; paid holidays; Employee Assistance Program; and other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including but not limited to cash bonuses.
