Head Custodial Worker
The Scarsdale Public Schools are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Head Custodian.  Under the supervision of the Assistant Director and Director of Facilities, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the cleaning, maintenance and minor repair activities of the building. Supervision is exercised over Custodial Workers, Cleaners, and Substitute Cleaners. Does related work as required.  Additionally, the Head Custodian will demonstrate:

• thorough knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment; 

• good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heating and ventilating equipment; 

• working knowledge of the tools, terminology, and practices of one or more skilled trades; 

• the ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, calendar, e-mail, and applications such as BMS, SchoolDude (work order/facilities scheduling/inventory system);

• thorough knowledge of safety regulations, procedures and security in the workplace and public buildings;

• thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of effective supervision;

• the ability to prepare reports;

• the ability to get along well with others, demonstrating good judgment, dependability and initiative;

This is a Westchester County, Competitive Class, Civil Service position.  All candidates must either currently hold permanent status in the title of Head Custodial Worker, or be reachable on the current WC Head Custodial Worker list.  For further information go to westchestergov.com.
