About the Position: We are actively seeking an Agency MBS Trading role at the Analyst level, preferably with 1-3 years of MBS-related experience. A market-making trading seat at Performance Trust is a demanding role in terms of intensity and quantitative aptitude, with upside that is commensurate with one’s performance. This job is based in Chicago and requires 5 days a week in the office.
Specifically, this individual will be responsible for the following:
- Support senior traders in market-making and risk management of Agency MBS, including specified pools and TBAs.
- Prepare axes, pricing runs, and pool color for distribution to traders, sales, and clients.
- Maintain desk analytics (Bloomberg, Yield Book, Excel) to track positions, risk, prepayments, and daily P&L.
- Assist in trade execution and ensure accurate booking, reconciliation, and resolution of breaks.
- Partner with sales on client requests, analytics, and trade ideas.
- Contribute to desk commentary and client-facing materials to build market visibility.
- Monitor market flows and identify relative value opportunities across pools and coupons.
- Summarize key market news, Fed policy, and regulatory changes impacting Agency MBS
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Highly conversant in Excel, Bloomberg and Python.
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in a quantitative discipline, e.g., mathematics, finance, economics, engineering, computer science and/or statistics
- The candidate must have the SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 or obtain them within 180 days of employment.
- Advanced training in Applied Math, Engineering, Statistical Modeling, Calculus, Computer Science, Physics or related disciplines a plus
- Strong attention to detail and process, particularly when under the pressure of deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work without direction and follow through on given tasks
- Ability to manipulate, interpret and communicate large datasets
- Ability to think systematically and quantitatively
- Ability to apply technology and/or quantitative skills to solve complex trading problems
- Experience with programming, scripting, and/or statistical software

Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000. This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting, however, may change based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
