Children’s Museum of Atlanta is seeking a passionate and energetic educator to join our School and Outreach team in a part-time, hourly role (approximately 30 hours per week, Monday–Friday with some weekends required). In this position, you’ll help spark curiosity and wonder for children ages 0–8 by developing and delivering hands-on, play-based learning experiences in schools, community sites, and special events. From STEAM workshops to interactive demonstrations, you’ll help create engaging programs that inspire young learners while representing CMA’s mission throughout the community. This is a part time, hourly, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of
$18.35-$19.35. The Outreach Educator team reports to the Assistant Director of School and Outreach Programs.
Primary Role: To promote the Museum’s mission and ensure positive and playful experiences by helping to develop and deliver educational outreach programs covering multiple subject matters, from arts to sciences.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Assistant Director of School and Outreach programs to create educational experiences for in person and virtual programming outreach activities in schools and other sites
- Work with School and Outreach Associate on programming on various projects
- Present engaging and educational programming in outreach sites, such as hands on activities, STEAM workshops, experiments; after school programming; and demonstrations as appropriate
- Participate and facilitate the evaluation process in the outreach programming
- Assist with the development of outreach experiences that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with CMA’s mission and the State of Georgia educational standards
- Participate in training and feedback
- Act as a positive role model during all activities in attitude and behavior
- Engage in effective written and oral communication with outreach partners
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for engaging lesson plans for use during outreach experiences
- Represent Museum at community events
- Pack, load and transport materials for outreach programs
- Other duties as assigned

- Must compellingly communicate accurate information about museum programs, current and future exhibits, summer camps, parties, general admission, and any special offerings from the museum.
- Attend and participate in staff trainings and regular staff meetings
Requirements
Skills:
- Strong oral presentation skills
- Ability to work with children in an experiential learning environment and to adapt to diverse situations
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional customer service skills and dynamic personality to interact with children ages 0-8
- Able to work in multifaceted, team-oriented environment
- Willingness to take direction and problem solve
- Experience using cultural and inclusive competency to serve diverse populations and communities
- Ability to view things through the eyes of a child

Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Drive CMA van to and from outreach and event locations
- Must have dependable transportation for transporting supplies and self to outreach and event locations
Education: High School Diploma, and/or GED, working towards or already has achieved a B. A. in Education, Science or related field.
Experience: At least two years’ experience in camp counseling, youth development, team leadership, customer service, and/or leadership role with children ages 2 to 8 years old.
