Family And Community Engagement (FACE) District Representative
One (1) Vacancy
Schedule: 8.0 hours per day, Monday - Friday
Location: District School Sites
Work Year: 204 paid days per year
- Recommends best practices and strategies for the development of a model Community School through administrative and highly technical functions relating to the District’s Community Schools efforts.
- Coordinates with community agencies to provide on-site support services for families and students, especially as they relate to community schools’ four pillars.
- Develops, evaluates, implements, revise, interpret, and explains District and Community Schools pillars, objectives, strategies, best practices, policies, and procedures to the staff and the public.
- Works directly with families and students to identify needs and match them with various community and school resources.
- Creates communication for families and community members such as flyers, letters, social media posts or website updates to ensure information is available widely to all Community Partners.
- Searches for new community partner opportunities that would be a support to their assigned site(s) and/or to the District.
- Plans, facilitates and/or attends various site and District events that support family and community engagement.
- Runs a needs assessment for their site(s) to determine areas that would benefit from community engagement and services.
- Joins various family and community events to provide support and get to know the community members.
- Coordinates professional development in partnership with community resource providers.
- Compiles, prepares, or supervises the preparation, compilation, and maintenance of a variety of needs assessments, statistical reports, special studies and observations, manuals, handbooks, and project activities, including progress reports for the California
- Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) grant.
- Creates presentations and training for staff and parents as assigned.
- Participates in MTSS activities and services.
- Works collaboratively with assigned sites’ family and community engagement teams.
- Performs reasonably related duties as assigned.
- Organizational development principles and practices.
- Computer/microcomputer operation, including the Microsoft Office Products (Outlook,
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Publisher). - Oral and written communication skills
- Plan and organize programs.
- Analyze problems, make decisions, and be responsible for those decisions.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Learn District organization, policies, and procedures and determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
- Establish and maintain accurate, detailed records and produce reports.
- Work cooperatively with the public and fellow employees.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- College coursework in communications, journalism, public relations, English or other languages, education or a related field is highly desirable.
- At least one year of school site experience as a volunteer, committee member or employee strongly preferred.
- Post offer, physical examination and drug screen.
- Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and FBI.
- Current X-ray or tuberculin skin test before employment and every four years thereafter.
- Valid California driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
- Works partially indoors in an office and a school setting.
- Works partially outdoors on the playground, lunch area, in and around the schools.
- Driving a personal vehicle to conduct work (must provide district verification of insurance).
- Works on computer equipment.
- Varied schedule with multiple daily interruptions.
- May encounter blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, with individuals, in small groups, in large groups, and on the telephone.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and small objects.
- Frequent movements including walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, and reaching.
- Occasional blocking, evading, running, and quick responses.
- Alternates between sitting and standing.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
