Material Planner & Production Scheduler

Role Overview

Mytra’s factory team is looking for an experienced Material Planner & Production Scheduler to help build and scale our manufacturing operations and carry us along our R&D Builds.

We are a fast-growing robotics start-up focused on developing cutting-edge automation solutions for warehouse and industrial applications. Our products combine precision hardware, embedded systems, and AI-driven software, requiring seamless coordination across engineering, production, and supply chain.

As the Material Planner & Production Scheduler, you will be responsible for ensuring timely availability of materials and components to support our build schedules. You will develop and maintain production plans, monitor inventory levels, coordinate with suppliers and internal teams, and mitigate any material constraints that could impact production. This role is key to ensuring the smooth execution of new product builds and sustained production ramps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Material Planning & Procurement Coordination
    • Translate build forecasts and BOMs into material requirements
    • Create and manage purchase requisitions or MRP orders
    • Track supplier lead times, deliveries, and open orders to ensure on-time material availability
    • Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excesses
    • Identify potential supply chain risks (i.e. : long lead items, quality issues) and escalate to x-functional teams to develop mitigation plans
    • Use data analytics to forecast demand trends and optimize inventory levels
  • Production Scheduling & Coordination
    • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules aligned with customer commitments and resource capacity
    • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to prioritize builds and resolve constraints
    • Track work orders, build progress, and production performance metrics
    • Generate and present regular reports on inventory health, material availability, and production readiness.
  • New Product Introduction
    • Coordinate with our Programs team, Warehouse team, and Manufacturing on new product introduction and engineering change control
    • Plan production cut-ins of ECOs and manage obsolescence with our warehouse team
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with engineering during design changes, ECNs, and pilot builds
    • Support new product introduction (NPI) planning by securing long-lead parts and working with proto suppliers
    • Interface with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely kitting and material staging
  • Systems & Process Management
    • Maintain planning parameters (safety stock, reorder points, min/max) in ERP or MRP systems
    • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline planning, reduce waste, and support scaling
    • Participate in ERP upgrades or WMS integrations as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years experience in materials planning and/or production scheduling, ideally in a hardware start-up or complex manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., ION, NetSuite, Odoo, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret BOMs, demand forecasts, and capacity data
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving start-up environment
  • Knowledge of robotics, electromechanical assemblies, or low-to-mid volume manufacturing is a plus

The Ideal Candidate

  • You are excited about working on an immature project, growing together, and shaping the future of the company.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and just-in-time (JIT) inventory practices
  • Exposure to rapid prototyping and NPI processes
  • You can convey complex ideas and technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Uncertainty isn’t scary, and you’re willing to realize mistakes and pivot.
  • Openness, inquisitiveness, and constant ambition are important values.
  • APICS CPIM or similar certification
  • Proficiency in Excel, Smartsheet, or planning tools
