The Food and Beverage Manager will collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team, Banquets, Sales, Catering and Conventions Managers, Marketing Manager and other Hotel Operations teams to develop and effectively execute aspects of food and beverage service throughout the Westgate Hotel. This role is responsible for the service experience execution and supervision of restaurant and meeting space banquet functions. This includes the responsibility of overseeing the employee experience, the guest experience, and effectively managing revenue and expense to ensure financial success.

  • A minimum of 3 year’s luxury hotel experience and food and beverage service required. Must have experience in managing 25+ team members.
  • Responsible for planning, managing and strategizing restaurant operations.
  • Responsible for reviewing and understanding Banquet Event Orders, ability to adapt to changes and communicate with clients to achieve complete satisfaction and maximize financial success.
  •  Exceptional organization skills required
  •  Ability to quickly respond and adapt to changes or business needs. Respond as a team player when any aspect of the hotel operation may require additional helping hands.
  •  Ability to effectively hire, train, and promote all food and beverage service team members.
  •  Leadership ability to mentor, coach and all food and beverage service team members to achieve desired guest experience results.
  •  Responsible for proactively reviewing staffing and supply needs. Including long term strategy planning to maintain the asset and achieve results.
  •  Responsible for creating a sense of people and place for Banquet Function space and restaurant/bar, including but not limited to creative décor, cleanliness and condition, and elements of luxury.
  •  Responsible to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance standards are achieved in all areas.
  •  Must have strong knowledge of various types of food service, beverage service and set up configurations.
  • Implement and manage all company programs (company/franchise) to ensure compliance with the SOPs; to include safety and sanitary regulation, all federal, state and local regulations to ensure optimal levels of quality service and hospitality are provided to the guest.
  • Manage the maintenance/sanitation of the food and beverage areas and equipment in the hotel to protect the asset, comply with regulations and ensure quality service.
  •  Resolve customer complaints, as appropriate, to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality. High interaction with broad spectrum of Vendors, grow positive relationships.
  •  Liaise with the Executive Chef to plan special requests for clients and special event menus, arrange introductions between the client and Chef
  •  Financially responsible to budget and achieve profitability goals

Qualifications: 

  • Diploma/Some College or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience;
  • Must have current and valid Food Handler’s card, RBS certification
  • Must have proficiency in general computer skills, including but not limited to Office 365, billing & payroll experience.
  • Thorough understanding of financial reports including labor and supplies
  • Demonstrate experience in leading and developing people and the ability to establish rapport and/or influence and gain an understanding of others
  • Ability to lead a team, flexibility with work schedule, including all hours of business operations.
  • Ability to uphold hotel's standards, policies, procedures, and safety standards with all team members. Including CA wage and hour compliance for hourly employees.
  • Ability to promote positive work relationships with team members and hotel departments
  • Ability to ascertain associates training needs and provide such training; ability to work well under the pressure of organizing and attaining production schedules and timelines.

Experience:  

  • Minimum of five years of experience in food and beverage service including banquet, restaurant, bar, room service and all applicable positions.
  • Excellent solid proficiency in English, writing, reading, speaking, bi-lingual Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Hotel operational experience with a luxury property preferred
  • Opera, Office 365, Infogenesis, SevenRooms and OpenTable, Bbot, UKG Pro, Workforce Dimensions, experience helpful

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional environment. 

Physical Demands:  

  • Regularly works in both Indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to move up to 100 lbs., with wheeled assistance.
  • Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting or lifting overhead 20-50 or more pounds.
  • Physical activities include walking, talking, standing, stooping, hearing, seeing, talking, bending, reaching, dexterity, feeling, touching, writing, grasping, handling, stretching, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching up and down, and remain stationary at times throughout work periods.
  • Considerable repetitive motion of hands, wrists, shoulders and back is required.
