Position Summary:

The Manager of Finance and Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing day-to-day finance and accounting functions within the organization. This individual will manage financial reporting processes, financial statement modeling, liquidity management, and inventory forecasting. They will support budget and forecast processes, ensure accurate financial presentations, and provide strategic insights to support decision-making across the business. Reporting directly to the US CFO, this position will guide financial strategy, mentor a growing team, and contribute to Canyon’s long-term success.

 

Budget & Forecasting Process:

  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of the company’s annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial projections with operational goals.
  • Monitor performance against budget and forecasts, identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.

Accounting Oversight:

  • Oversee the accounting function to ensure accurate, timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure proper internal controls and processes are in place to safeguard financial data.
  • Collaborate with accounting staff to resolve discrepancies or issues.

Financial Statement Modeling:

  • Develop and maintain financial statement models to provide insights into financial health.
  • Ensure models reflect operational changes, market conditions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed analyses of financial results, explaining variances from expectations.

Liquidity (Cash Flow) Management:

  • Oversee cash flow management, tracking inflows and outflows.
  • Ensure adequate liquidity for operations, investments, and obligations.
  • Provide regular liquidity updates to senior leadership.

Inventory Forecast Alignment:

  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to align inventory forecasts with financial plans.
  • Analyze inventory trends and recommend actions to optimize working capital.

Ad-Hoc Financial Reporting:

  • Lead the preparation of ad-hoc financial reports and analyses requested by leadership.
  • Assist with strategic financial modeling and scenario analysis.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage and mentor finance and accounting team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Provide training and development opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with departments like operations, sales, and HR to align financial strategies with business goals.
  • Provide financial insights to support broader decision-making.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Monitor and manage financial risks related to operations, cash flow, and profitability.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid leadership and team management experience.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g. SAP, or similar).

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in the sporting goods or cycling industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
