Job Description:

What You’ll Do

Burwood is currently looking for experienced candidates to join our Network Operations team. This role will work collaboratively with client teams, Burwood’s Managed Services teams, and Burwood’s Professional Services teams to aid with architecting, engineering, managing, supporting, and upgrading the customer network environments. 

This role gives you the opportunity to get hands-on with the latest infrastructure technologies, including LAN, WAN, Wireless, Voice, and more. This role combines a strong passion for technology and outstanding customer service.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing relationships with the client and familiarizing yourself with their systems in order to become a trusted advisor to aid them in their technology road mapping.
  • Designing and implementing new network solutions.
  • Analyzing and managing recommended changes to increase LAN/WAN reliability, scalability and security.
  • Conducting research, working with manufacturers and vendors, and defining system/user requirements with the clients for their technology needs.  
  • Implementing, changing, and maintaining network and network security appliances in secure computing environments. 
  • Analyzing root cause for issues using tools such as packet captures and Wireshark.  
  • Mentoring junior members of the team in technology and process adherence.
  • Functioning as an escalation path for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Network Teams
  • Creating and reviewing KB articles
  • Drafting, reviewing, approving, and implementing Changes
  • Utilizing automation and orchestration platforms to reduce manual efforts
Qualifications:

  • You have excellent presentation skills and can clearly articulate problems/solutions to client stakeholders - whether that be in-person, over the phone, or e-mail.
  • You like things done right and value that consistency. This translates to strong Standard Operating Procedures for the deployment of new infrastructure services, systems, and technologies.
  • Your work style is flexible. Some tasks are great to tackle with a team, and other items you can complete independantly.
  • You are a self-starter who seeks responsibility and ownership, you’re accountable for your work, and dedicated to a job well done. 

The Tech Stuff

  • SME in Network Security architecture and protocols, including SD-WAN
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex issues with a systematic approach
  • Cybersecurity knowledge and experience are highly desired  
  • Scripting and Automation knowledge, Python and Ansible a plus
  • Hands-on experience working with Cisco Meraki, Nexus and SD-WAN, Palo Alto Networks, Aruba/HPE Networks
  • In-depth knowledge of WAN network strategies and circuits such as MPLS, Metro-E, and Dark Fiber.
  • Familiarity with network analysis tools such as Sciencelogic or Solarwinds. Familiarity with NetBrain is a plus
  • Understanding of DR strategies and design.
  • CCNA required
  • CCNP/CCIE or equivalent experience strongly preferred
