Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement professional to join our Global Procurement team. This role is critical to supporting the capital equipment strategy associated with the Nippon/USS transaction and will work closely with engineering and operations teams to source and manage procurement of high-value capital assets. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of experience in capital equipment procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end procurement process for capital equipment, including RFx development, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams to define technical specifications and procurement timelines.
- Support capital project planning by providing cost estimates, lead time analysis, and supplier capability assessments.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with corporate objectives and deliver cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to inform sourcing decisions and support innovation.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with corporate policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in capital equipment procurement, preferably in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting capital projects in the steel or metals industry.
- Familiarity with the Nippon/USS transaction or similar M&A-driven capital initiatives.
- Knowledge of global sourcing and supplier qualification processes.
