Base Salary $127,436- $151,328+ 17% superannuation
About the opportunity

The Environmental Epidemiology team undertakes research into the health risks of environmental hazards. The team has high level biostatistical skills and experience and a broad collaborative network across Australia and internationally.
We are seeking a Research Fellow to join Geoffrey Morgan and the team. The team focuses on research questions related to health and air quality, climate, and the built environment and applies epidemiological study designs and biostatistical modelling approaches to a broad range of health and environmental data. The team address policy relevant research with a focus on translating the results of their work into policy and practice within the health sector and across government, industry and the community.
The Research fellow will undertake work in research, supervision and service (including outreach). The appointee will contribute cooperatively to the overall intellectual life of the Environmental Health team, the School of Public Health and the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
The Research fellow will be expected to work collegially to develop and maintain effective, productive and beneficial workplace relationships with all academic and professional staff, students and honorary staff, as well as with government, industry and community stakeholders.
About you
Master of Biostatistics or an equivalent amount of skills and experience, preferably in relation to environmental epidemiological research questions and related study designs
familiarity with, and experience analysing, administrative health data including linked health data, and in particular NSW Health data assets
experience building high spatial and temporal resolution environmental exposure models
experience processing environmental data with high spatial and temporal resolution to assign localised exposure, either by statistical area or geocoded location
able to perform a variety of operations on geospatial data from a variety of input formats (e.g. ESRI shapefiles, GeoTIFF raster data, NetCDF files and geojson)
experiencing sourcing and processing environmental exposure and health administration data via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
proficiency using statistical programming software such as R, SAS, STATA and Python; and GIS platforms such
