Job Summary:

Mercury Systems has an opportunity for a dynamic change-agent who thrives on continuous improvement and results. As the Director of Procurement, you will support the mission of our nation’s defense systems and its service members. You will be part of technologies and expertise creation that delivers sensor processing, command and control, mission computing, and digitally integrated communication systems.

 

In this role, you will be part of a growing supply chain organization supporting over 17 lines of business across four business units. You will work closely with the business unit program management team, technical engineering personnel, as well as the global functions. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute product and enterprise-wide sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, program requirements, and government regulations.
  • Maintain expertise/knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements, and competitive landscape to deliver on cost, quality, and delivery goals.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers and subcontractors across critical categories.
  • Implement supplier segmentation and performance management systems to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee procurement lifecycle activities including source selection, pricing, negotiation, contract award, and supplier performance managing MRPH Health KPIs in addition to: purchase price variance and cost reductions, vendor management and consignment inventory, lead-time reductions, favorable payment terms, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with DFARS, FAR, ITAR, and other applicable regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, and Legal to ensure integrated sourcing solutions.
  • Support make-versus-buy decisions, new product introduction (NPI), and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Implement risk management frameworks to assess supply continuity, geopolitical exposure, and financial stability of suppliers.
  • Establish strong controls and reporting for DCMA/MMAS, CPSR, and government audit readiness.
  • Drive digital procurement transformation through data analytics, spend visibility, and e-sourcing platforms.
  • Track and report KPIs including cost savings, lead times, on-time delivery, and supplier scorecards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of government contracting, defense acquisition, DFARS/FAR, and industry-specific compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience negotiating complex agreements and managing high-value, high-risk supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving enterprise-level cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP system implementation or integration (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Deltek), including requirements definition, process mapping, and change management.
  • ERP/MRP system proficiency (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent); experience with supplier portals and sourcing tools a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • Ability to travel in the US periodically (up to 30%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with federal proposal regulations including but not limited to: FAR, DFAR, TINA
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams of various size/complexity through use of earned value techniques/tools focused on cost objectives and risk and opportunity management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point and other related tools
