ABOUT FKO:
For Kids Only Afterschool (FKO) is a non-profit, out-of-school time provider based in 17 locations throughout five cities. With a mission to support the holistic needs of children, FKO fully believes learning extends well beyond the classroom, and OST Educators are a key component to building life-long learning skills.
The Afterschool Inclusion Specialist holds the general responsibility of providing individualized attention, small group activities and one-on-one guidance for students with IEPs. In addition, the Inclusion Specialist supervises students and supports the afterschool program staff, engages in APT observation and communicates on a regular basis with FKO and school faculty.
Position is for 12.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, after school hours, 3:00pm - 5:30pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with the children and staff to expand in-class supports, reduce adult-child ratios and provide specialized instruction necessary to engage children with IEPs, while also ensuring the needs of typically developing children are appropriately met.
- Offer assistance to students during enrichment classes, including small group and one-on-one instruction for those with IEPs who are having difficulty fully participating.
- Model effective homework completion practices for Site Coordinator and Group Leaders to allow them to adapt their own homework and enrichment activities to be more inclusive whenever appropriate.
- Review IEPs to ensure that in-school intervention plans are transferred into Afterschool Support Plans.
- Consult with FKO's Social Worker to develop specific accommodations as needed.
- Work with school personnel, school administration, FKO Site Director and District Director
- Report to the Site Director and/or District Director for daily responsibilities.
- Perform all other duties that the Executive Director deems necessary.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience in the following: Social Work, Education, Mental Health, Special Education, Family Work, and/or Human Services;
- Bi-lingual preferred-Spanish
- Massachusetts Special Education certification preferred;
- Ability to promote strategies for inclusion and behavior modification;
- Familiarity of out-of-school time programing; and
- Must pass Massachusetts criminal background check.
