The System Test Intern will help design, test, and validate IoT Devices (Connectivity and Controls), Mobile Apps and IoT Platform. This position will be developing test cases, writing automated test scripts for Integration Test, System Test and End-to-End Test of Firmware, Mobile Apps and Cloud Platform for Rheem’s IoT. We aim to develop your talents as an engineer and enable you to contribute significantly to the Smart Connected Products platform in new feature design and development during your time at Rheem.

This position is in our Advanced Technology Integration department in Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid). This Intern position is for ~3months, working 40 hours weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Test all aspects of product software – mobile app, cloud integration, thermostat, hvac and water heater connectivity and controls functionality
  • Support Integration Test, System Test and End-to-End Test of IoT devices and apps. Ensure test coverage for functional and non-functional requirements
  • Develop and extend test cases and test automation for the above-mentioned test activities for connectivity and controls firmware, mobile and web apps
  • Develop and maintain test setups, tools and simulators for manual and automated testing of IoT systems
  • Analyze, characterize and debug issues found in testing. Open bug tickets for product issues, track the tickets for closure and test the fixes provided
  • Research the use of AI to enhance test development and testing productivity and quality
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, developer and test engineers for test development and testing
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Some experience in programming (python), testing, test automation, cloud services, programming of control devices
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles (electrical, electronics, software, cloud)
  • Ability to plan work tasks
  • Willingness to write reports/specifications and present your findings to the team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word)
