Looking for a new and exciting opportunity?  We are looking for Senior Foreperson, Line Services to join our team!

What You Will Do

 

Reporting to the Manager - Vehicle Maintenance, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, directing and supervising the daily scheduled activities of the Line Services section which includes the Equipment Control Desk (ECD) or End of Line Terminal Cleaning (ETC). This involves supervision of unionized and staff personnel to ensure the work is performed correctly and on schedule with an emphasis on employee safety, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.

 

Other responsibilities of your role will include:

 

  • Planning, scheduling, and directing an assigned Line Services section consisting of the Equipment Control Desk (ECD) or End of Line Terminal Cleaning (ETC)
  • Supervising the work of and providing effective leadership to subordinate staff engaged in the section’s activities and coordinating the daily work activities of the ECD or ETC workforce including a unionized workforce and staff personnel (Forepersons, etc.)
  • Ensuring work is performed correctly and on schedule with an emphasis on safety, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Ensuring employees are properly trained on workplace safety, procedures, equipment operation and maintenance
  • Performing a variety of duties that ensure the inspection, repair, cleaning and preparation/delivery of subway vehicles for revenue service are made
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to equipment and/or work methods; developing and revising work methods and procedures to improve operational efficiency
  • Monitoring rail vehicle operations via communication consoles or mainline operations to ensure safe and reliable operations of the transit system
  • Assisting in the preparation of the budget for the section, specifically the work related to equipment and the impact on maintenance plans and workforce
  • Liaising with outside suppliers and other TTC departments regarding quality of material and equipment received, warranties, and obtaining estimates, finding substitutes for obsolete equipment, etc.
  • Substituting for the Manager – Rail Vehicle or other Senior Foreperson during periods of absence

  • Your application will reveal directly related experience in a supervisory capacity where rail vehicle components and vehicles are inspected, maintained and repaired to safety critical standards and prepared for revenue service.
  • Your thorough knowledge of diagnostic, inspection, repair and maintenance procedures for rail vehicles will be beneficial to you in this role.
  • You will have thorough knowledge of the various rail and service vehicle structure, components and systems as it relates to the Equipment Control Desk (ECD) area.
  • Additionally, you will have sound knowledge of subway and rail vehicle operations during revenue service, and you will have the ability to communicate and strategize with the Transit Control Centre (TCC).  You will understand the link between the TCC operations and the ability to perform within a “control center” environment, including emergency situations with ECD.
