About the role: You will form an integral part of their Agile tech team which is responsible for creating and maintaining the software that allows their platform to function. You’ll also be responsible for:

• Maintain and develop new features on their software platform. You'll apply the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of their software.
• Make sure the software you develop is secure and safe concerning information security & personal data.
• Actively participate in meetings and projects and coordinate with your team members. It is also expected for you to continue to develop yourself and keep abreast of new developments.
• Document your work and make sure that your documentation is clear and understandable for future use by others.
• Be part of the rituals and practices of Agile methodologies.
  
  

About you: You have in-depth development experience using Java and building software from the ground up. You're a logical thinker and a natural problem solver who wants to use your technical skillset to make an impact.

Requirements

• To be based in Portugal/Kenya/South Africa.
• Have a minimum of 5 years of working experience using several Java backend tools and frameworks.
• You don't want to just write code, you want to make it with quality and scalable.
• Experience within Microservices, and AWS will be an advantage.
• You are willing to learn. They use SpringBoot, JUnit, Testcontainers, and Flyway, among others (You aren't required to have experience with the specific tools they are currently using, they can help you).

What they offer: At Tiko they believe in being open, also when it comes to salaries. The monthly salary bracket for this position is €2,592 - €4,200 gross in Portugal, Ksh288,235 - Ksh369,323 gross in Kenya, and R59,204 - R81 406 gross in South Africa, plus benefits and allowances. They will offer you a salary in this bracket depending on your level of experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
