Hybrid Mentor Mentor

Excel@Uni (https://excelatuni.com) is recruiting for well-experienced individuals to join our network of mentors. We build solutions to help the tertiary sector reduce the 50% student dropout rate, and our mentorship programme forms a core part of helping students graduate as high-attractive employment candidates. Our mentoring is highly structured, allowing you to have the effective tools you need to monitor the impact of your guidance on the students you’d mentor monthly.

Being a mentor is an opportunity for you to guide a student through their academic career, pursuing work-readiness skills development, and sharing the overall experience that you've had. We also think it’s a rare opportunity for mentors to learn how to manage 1-3 students, allowing you to transition into management roles with better experience of the performance management part of the role.

While we look at the role as an honorary one that can help you improve your management skills, we do provide mentors with a small monthly stipend per student mentored per month. The stipend is meant to cover data/airtime used, to make sure your participation doesn’t cost you more than your attention & time.

Please note that this is a role that only requires about 4-6hrs of your time per mentee per month. You will not be an employee of Excel@Uni, but a contractor who is providing your service as a Mentor to the student(s) who will be assigned to you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monthly group briefing meeting with the Excel@Uni Mentorship Team
• Monthly one-on-one meetings with your mentees via video call
• Monthly reporting about what was discussed during the one-on-one meetings. You will be provided with a form to capture the content & outcomes of these mentorship sessions
• Adhoc availability to answer mentees questions/provide advise via Whatsapp/text/email throughout the month

Key Requirements:

• A tertiary graduate (Any tertiary level qualification)
• At least 2 year of work experience after completing your qualification
• Tertiary level mentoring or tutoring experience is beneficial
• Have your own laptop/pc (with a working webcam)
• Have internet access and ability to use Google Drive and Google Meets (or similar video-calling apps)
