Details zum Jobangebot

At UpCloud you’ll be literally building the cloud.

The cloud is just someone else’s computer. But at UpCloud, it is ours - and we want to make it the best possible. Our Cloud is a fabric of thousands of high-end server computers, network gear, and storage devices, all woven together to deliver the best performance.

UpCloud is growing, and we’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Developer Experience team! In this position you'll be a part of a cross-functional team of experienced developers working with our public and private APIs, SDKs and other customer-facing tooling, such as Terraform/OpenTofu provider. The team aims to provide best in class developer experience, being also one of our contact points with our open-source community.

Your work will consist of developing our public orchestration tool set such as our Terraform provider and Packer plugin and internal infrastructure tooling. You will be a key person in making our infrastructure more approachable, accessible and extensible for our customers, while optimising their user and developer experience.

Our view is that to be successful in this role you should have experience working with cloud technologies and public cloud providers. We expect you to have a solid understanding of cloud automation workflows. It’s a plus if you have experience or are interested in the following domains:

  • Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Packer, Ansible)
  • Programming experience (Go, Python)
  • DevOps culture and practices
  • CI/CD platforms (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • OpenAPI specifications, REST APIs and API design

What does a day in this team look like?

You implement features and have discussions with your team and Product Manager, prioritising relevant use cases from our customers. You research and build proof of concepts with your peers to help define the approach to more complex cases, and then develop it to its production release, counting on modern tools and up-and-coming utilities, such as GitHub CoPilot.

You might also be engaging with internal and external communities, by speaking in cool workshops, promoting and interacting with contributors in our public GitHub repositories, and other nice stuff.

As a Software Engineer, you’re good in understanding engineering problems, while being pragmatic and hands-on in your approach to solve them, actively seeking for mentoring from more senior colleages, if needed.

You’re constructive in your communication, and you feel comfortable in receiving and giving feedback, even when there are different points of view.

This role can be performed from our new office in the heart of Helsinki or fully remotely anywhere in Europe.

At UpCloud we'll provide you an easy-going environment that promotes work-life balance and self-development. You'll be encouraged to experiment, fail, learn, succeed amazingly, be brave to propose new things, agree and disagree. That’s how we like to work.

If you would like to join our journey to never become yet another cloud provider, please get in touch using the ‘apply for this job’ button.

We review all applications and we do get back to all our candidates. That is a promise.
