Avionics Reliability Engineer – Aftermarket
Position Summary
The Aftermarket Avionics Reliability Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and improving the reliability of Acron Avionics product lines. This role supports aftermarket operations by identifying failure trends, recommending corrective actions, and collaborating cross-functionally to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
The position provides global support for internal teams and customers, requiring coordination across multiple time zones and flexibility to occasionally work outside standard business hours. This role requires demonstrated experience using automation and AI to convert operational and field data into actionable reliability insights, driving closed-loop improvements with validated, documented, and durable corrective actions
Key Responsibilities
Analyze field performance data of avionics systems to identify reliability issues and trendsCalculate and track Mean Time Between Unscheduled Removal (MTBUR) and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) across multiple product linesDevelop and maintain reliability models and metrics, including MTBF and failure ratesInvestigate root causes of failures and coordinate corrective actions with design, manufacturing, and service teamsSupport reliability improvement initiatives for legacy and in-service avionics productsInterface with airline customers, MROs, and OEMs to gather feedback and provide technical supportPrepare reliability reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and external customersParticipate in failure reviews and corrective action implementationDrive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies, implementing innovative solutions, and monitoring performance to improve quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience2–5 years of experience in avionics reliability, systems engineering, or a related disciplineStrong understanding of avionics systems and components, including communication, navigation, and surveillance systemsKnowledge of reliability statistics, life data analysis, and probability distributionsExperience using Windchill Risk and Reliability analysis tools (formerly ReliaSoft), including Reliability Prediction Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)Familiarity with airline operations and maintenance practicesStrong problem-solving, communication, and data analysis skills with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teamsProficiency in Microsoft Office toolsStrong capability to present reliability findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience using automation and AI tools to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiencyDemonstrated continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to evaluate processes and implement more effective ways of workingAbility to adopt and promote automation and AI tools to improve team speed, quality, and execution
