SUMMARY:

Kenowa Hills Pathways High School (KHPHS) provides a highly customized, personalized, and future-focused high school experience to every learner. The mission of KHPHS is to equip graduates with a high level of college or career readiness. Through community partnerships, school-to-business relationships, and highly personalized curriculum pathways, all KHPHS graduates will possess an Educational Development Plan (EDP) that demonstrates competencies for the next step to college or career. 

 

KHPHS staff members are intentional in their role as a facilitator of learning for the Michigan Merit Curriculum. Staff members also support students in their career exploration, EDP development, job site visits, shadowing, and internships.  Staff members must be highly aware of students’ future goals and aspirations and design learning experiences to support post-graduation next steps for college or career.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required:

    • Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement in Mathematics (EX).
    • Commitment to student engagement and attendance incentives
    • Willingness to collaborate with Pathways stakeholders
    • Knowledge of skills and abilities related to diversity and cultural competence.
    • Knowledge of own competence in the area of diversity and how this influences own behavior and a desire to learn about others identities.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Prepare course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
    2. Establish and enforce classroom management procedures consistent with building and district protocol.
    3. Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health and report to parents as needed and required.
    4. Prepare materials and classroom for class activities.
    5. Adapt to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
    6. Plan for a balanced program of instruction and work time.
    7. Use a variety of methods in order to motivate students and best utilize available time for instruction.
    8. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and communicate those objectives to the students.
    9. Assign and grade classwork and homework, adhering to building and district protocols.
    10. Prepare, administer and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students’ progress.
    11. Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction and adapt and modify curriculum in order to meet individual student needs.
    12. Participate in the development and revision of goals and performance objectives for students, course content and learning activities, evaluate procedures and instructional materials.
    13. Keep attendance and grade records as required by the district.
