Responsibilities are based on student needs rather than being assigned to a specific individual, setting, or program. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Paraprofessional duties may vary based on assignments and may be adjusted as needed based on administrative or teacher review of student and program requirements. Below is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities all paraprofessionals must be prepared to perform:
Provide individualized or small-group academic support to students, reinforcing skills and concepts introduced by licensed educators.
Monitor student work completion, assist with grading, and oversee curriculum-based assessments, including test makeups, as directed.
Observe and report concerns regarding student academic progress, behavior, or personal needs to appropriate ALC or school personnel.
Supervise students during lunch, breaks, field trips, and other designated times, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
Uphold ethical standards and ensure confidentiality regarding student records and personal information within the school and broader community.
Encourage the development of academic responsibility, social-emotional skills, and positive behavior consistent with ALC program goals.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development relevant to supporting diverse learners in alternative settings.
Assist in the implementation of accommodations and modifications as outlined in student support plans, including reading instructions aloud, note-taking, and adapting assignments.
Support and model respectful, constructive peer interactions and promote a positive classroom culture.
Collect, document, and share data related to student engagement and academic progress in alignment with ALC objectives.
Assist with the preparation of instructional materials, photocopying, and maintaining organized classroom displays and bulletin boards.
Collaborate with teaching staff to help students engage in general education curriculum and complete assignments.
Attend meetings with administrators, teachers, or families, as requested, to support student success.
Perform other duties as assigned by ALC administration or designee to support student learning and program effectiveness.

Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and student information systems (e.g., Synergy) is beneficial.

Sensitivity to students' emotional, social, and academic needs.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and discretion in all professional interactions.
SUPERVISION OF OTHER EMPLOYEES: This position is not responsible for the supervision of other district employees.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity are required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to successfully pass the paraprofessional proficiency exam.
EXPERIENCE: Not required, but 1-2 years of experience working with diverse students in a curriculum support or tutoring capacity is preferred.
