MRI Technologist

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of MRI/MRA scans of the body in accordance with department protocols and supervising radiologist directions. 
  • Reports any patient's need of immediate medical attention. Findings from emergency response shall be immediately reported to the officer in charge of the MR Imaging facility or authorized representative. 
  • Follows infection control operating instructions and utilizes isolation protection techniques. Performs equipment quality control checks. Monitors personnel to ensure protective procedures such as radiation safety, hazardous material communications, and Air Force Occupational Safety and Health programs are followed, assesses staff competence, and monitors appropriateness of care and completeness of examination requests. 
  • As needed, assists with student training activities IAW regulation and course director plans; may instruct new personnel and other staff in the performance of MRI and all other pertinent aspects in providing diagnostic quality care.
  • Ensure that the MRI Suite and control room are cleaned weekly. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Graduation from a radiography program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Education.
  • Shall maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross or other approved certifying body emblem. 
  • Minimum 2 years of MRI experience within the last 3 years. Experience must be as a registered MRI Technologist. 
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) in the speciality of MRI. 
  • Must be a US Citizen.
