Physician Assistant (PA) – Plastic Surgery

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in accordance with privileges granted by the Director, WRNMMC, (e.g., advise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
- Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
- Order diagnostic tests as applicable.
- Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
- Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
- Participate in all applicable mandated training directed by WRNMMC and DHA. HCWs shall comply with training instructions provided by the MTF.
- Will teach and oversee care of nurse practitioner and physician assistant students as assigned along with mentoring independent duty corpsmen, military paramedics, and corpsmen/medics working in the Plastic Surgery Service to enhance their clinical operational readiness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Possess a minimum of two years of Specialty Care experience within the last three years.
- Possess and maintain the following current certifications: a. National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), b. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross (ARC) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer, AHA/ARC Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/Advanced Life Support (ALS).
- Must be a US Citizen.
