Description
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that are sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain.
The R&D Lab Internship offers a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in our innovative laboratory environment. Interns will work closely with our Research & Development team, assisting in the development and optimization of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes and primary resource extraction technologies. The ideal candidate will be driven, eager to learn, and interested in the field of chemistry, chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, or mineral/particle processing. This internship will provide valuable training in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and project management skills. The candidate must be able to conduct experiments while following standard operating procedures in a safe and responsible manner.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree program related to chemistry, chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, mineral processing, or similar fields.
- Understanding of laboratory safety protocols along with good laboratory practices and hygiene.
- Familiarity with fundamental laboratory techniques, including reagent preparation, data collection, sample handling, and waste disposal.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to adhere to established protocols and procedures.
- Capability to work effectively in both team settings and independently.
- Outstanding organizational abilities and strong time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine passion for battery technology and sustainability is a significant plus.
Interns should be ready to embrace a flexible schedule and may have the opportunity to earn academic credit for their internship experience.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods, up to 6 hours a day or more.
- Capable of transporting samples and materials (weighing up to 50 lbs) between labs.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), which includes long pants, closed-toe shoes, lab coats, eye protection, and respiratory masks.
- Must be comfortable working in environments that may expose you to dust, noise, and chemicals for prolonged periods.
- Good manual dexterity is essential for utilizing common office and laboratory equipment.
