Role Overview:
The Treasury Forex Sales Dealer is responsible for driving the company’s foreign exchange revenue by originating and executing FX trades, nurturing client relationships, delivering real-time market intelligence, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance Treasury delivery and value maximization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales & Relationship Management
- Act as the client-facing representative, focusing on sales, relationship management, FX solutions to institutional clients.
- Source, qualify, and onboard FX partners, Liquidity providers, IMTOs and other institutional clients within the West African Economic and Monetary Union.
- Negotiate FX rates to optimise pricing, generate revenue and structure treasury and hedging solutions where necessary.
- Maintain and expand client pipeline in WAEMU region, to hit monthly and annual revenue targets.
- Trading & Execution
- Execute spot and forward FX transactions via various digital portals, APIs and institutional platforms
- Manage intraday and overnight FX exposures against predefined risk limits
- Ensure best execution by aggregating liquidity from multiple venues and APIs
- Market Analysis & Reporting
- Monitor global macroeconomic developments, central-bank actions, and geopolitical events within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
- Present market outlooks and trade ideas to management, clients and internal forums.
- Produce daily market update and deal-rationale memos
- Product Development & Integration
- Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to integrate FX modules into our fintech stack
- Test and refine new digital features (e.g., pricing engines)
- Risk & Compliance
- Adhere to internal risk-management framework and exposure limits
- Ensure compliance with KYC/AML regulations and local FX reporting requirements
- Coordinate with Legal and Compliance to document client agreements and audit trails
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with Operations to streamline trade settlement and confirmations
- Liaise with Finance to reconcile P&L, monitor revenue leakage, and refine forecasting
- Deliver weekly and monthly performance reports to Treasury leadership
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in FX sales or trading, ideally within a fintech or bank treasury environment
- ACI Dealing Certificate or equivalent FX-trading accreditation would be an added advantage.
- Proven understanding of the Global FX conduct.
Essential Skills:
- Technical Proficiency
- Hands-on experience with various FX trading platforms (e.g., Refinitiv FX-All, Bloomberg FXGO, VertoFX, Velocity etc)
- Leveraging AI and machine learning to forecast currency flows, optimize spreads, and identify arbitrage opportunities.
- Developing Real-time dashboards to provide instant visibility into FX positions, market trends, and liquidity risks.
- Strong command of various analytics tools.
- Experience working with Treasury Management Systems
- Market Expertise
- Deep understanding of various FX instruments, price movements in local, emerging and major currencies as well as the West African CFA franc (XOF).
- Ability to interpret macroeconomic data and translate it into actionable/executable trade ideas
- Proven understanding of cross-boarder payments and appreciation of FX-linked payments across jurisdictions.
- Risk & Compliance
- Proper understanding of local and regional regulatory framework/policies/guidelines around Banking and Forex business.
