Manufacturing Engineer Level 1 is an entry position in Supreme Integrated Technology’s Manufacturing Department. This role is responsible for coordinating with Director of Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Department to develop and implement methods of manufacture for production jobs and any other special projects and to assist in communicating these requirements to production personnel.  They will also work closely with QA/QC and Logistics to accept and organize material to be used in production in the most efficient ways possible.  A general technical skill level centered around steel fabrication or machining is required to provide the expertise needed.

A Manufacturing Engineer Level 1 would be expected to understand and anticipate fabrication issues and suggest methods to control or eliminate problems.  They must be knowledgeable of advanced techniques and tooling to achieve desired fabrication results.

They must be able to anticipate the needs of the job, shop, and personnel to maintain, coordinate, and continue fabrications on schedule.  They must be able to work and communicate with other groups such as management, design engineering, purchasing, scheduling, quality, and logistics.  They would be expected to participate in project planning, execution, testing, and post completion reporting.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate with Design Engineering to establish the best Methods of Manufacture (MOM) for engineering projects.
  • Implement finalized design into the manufacturing process including Bill of Material (BOM) and MOM entry into ERP system, creating cut lists and nesting and other fabrication documents for production use, selecting vendors for processed materials.
  • Evaluate vendors capability and capacities
  • High level support of QA/QC on projects, including confirming and recording any fabrication documentation or testing results.
  • Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or other related engineering discipline or,
  • Associates degree in related engineering discipline with 6+ years’ experience in steel or machining manufacturing environment

Experience

  • Experience working in an industrial shop/manufacturing required.
  • Six (6) or more years of steel fabrication experience preferred.
  • Experience with military projects is preferred.
  • Experience with ERP and SolidWorks software preferred.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of all safety practices associated with welding, cutting and mechanical work.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, sketches, schematics, and drawings.
  • Computer competency with normal office software and email required
