Job Summary:
Zeeco is seeking a Manufacturing / Automation Designer to support production through the design and development of jigs, fixtures, automation solutions, and 3D-printed components. This role combines hands-on manufacturing engineering with CAD design to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall production workflows.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented problem solver with strong mechanical design skills and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, tooling, and automation solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality
- Design and implement production molds, including metal and 3D-printed mold systems, for fabrication, forming, casting, or composite-related manufacturing needs
- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for parts, assemblies, and production equipment
- Support 3D printing initiatives, including designing, prototyping, and implementing printed components for production use
- Analyze manufacturing processes and implement improvements to increase throughput and reduce cost and waste
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and shop personnel to ensure designs are practical and optimized for fabrication
- Perform hands-on technical analysis of equipment and manufacturing processes
- Assist with capital improvement and automation projects from concept through implementation
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including fabrication, assembly, and test instructions
- Validate designs through shop support, testing, and iteration
- Review and revise drawings based on internal and customer feedback
- Estimate production times, materials, and labor requirements for projects
- Apply Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve workflow
- Support shop floor operations including troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- Technical School Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Drafting/Design, or related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing design, drafting, or engineering support
- Strong proficiency in INVENTOR, VAULT, and AutoCAD (2D & 3D modeling)
- Experience designing jigs, fixtures, molds, or production tooling
- Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and applications in manufacturing
- Understanding of fabrication processes, machining, and assembly methods
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across engineering and shop teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
