What’s the opportunity for an Accounts Assistant at Gearset?
- You’ll take day-to-day ownership of payroll operations across the UK and US, making sure everything runs accurately, on time, and with clear communication.
- You’ll be the go-to person for payroll queries, working closely with colleagues and external providers to keep records, inputs, and approvals in good shape.
- Alongside payroll, you’ll support the core transactional finance processes from accounts payable and expenses through to accounts receivable.
- You’ll also play a part in month-end activities, helping with reconciliations and general ledger support to ensure our numbers are reliable and well controlled.
- As Gearset continues to grow, you’ll work with the wider Finance and People teams to keep processes consistent, improve how we work, and pitch in on ad-hoc projects when needed, helping the team scale in a sensible, sustainable way.
What you’ll achieve
- You’ll take ownership of payroll delivery, ensuring UK payroll runs accurately and on time, while supporting reliable processing for our US team.

- You’ll help keep our core finance operations running seamlessly by maintaining clean, well-organised records across payroll, accounts payable, expenses, and accounts receivable, and by supporting a controlled, timely month-end close through reconciliations and general ledger support.
- You’ll contribute to strengthening finance controls and documentation as Gearset scales, spotting opportunities to improve how we work and helping the team introduce more efficient, sustainable processes.
- You’ll work closely with the wider Finance team to provide flexible support during busy periods, learning from experienced colleagues and contributing to a collaborative, feedback-driven environment.

- You communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues and external partners, and you’re happy working independently, using your initiative to juggle priorities in a growing, fast-moving environment.
