Contract-to-Full-Time Role Summary: Social Media & Community Coordinator
Role Overview
Waking Up is seeking a Social Media & Community Coordinator (initially contract, with intent to hire full-time) to support and grow our social presence across existing and emerging platforms.
You’ll help bring our brand to life online — turning Waking Up’s ideas, teachings, and partnerships into accessible, engaging, and thoughtful moments across social media. You’ll be deeply embedded in our community: posting, responding, monitoring trends, and helping our brand show up with both depth and agility.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who loves social platforms, understands online culture, and can embody a mindful, intelligent tone of voice. You’ll be both executor and observer — posting, engaging, learning from the data, and sharing insights to help the team refine what we create.
Purpose of the Role
Social is where the Waking Up brand lives in public — and this role ensures we’re present, responsive, and engaging.
You’ll:
- Post and engage on behalf of the brand with empathy, precision, and consistency.
- Translate creative direction and app content into platform-native storytelling.
- Bring our community to life by fostering conversation, reflection, and curiosity.
- Support brand campaigns and partnerships by amplifying them across social.
- Keep a pulse on trends and opportunities that align with our mission and voice.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Execution
- Publish and schedule approved content across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn using provided assets and copy guidelines.
- Ensure every post aligns with Waking Up’s tone, design, and brand guidelines.
- Monitor comments, messages, and mentions daily, engaging thoughtfully with followers and creators.
- Identify and flag community moments, trends, or relevant conversations that align with our brand values.
Social Community Engagement
- Respond to user questions and reflections in a way that deepens trust and curiosity.
- Proactively comment and engage on relevant creator and partner content to grow visibility.
- Help foster a sense of belonging and dialogue around mindfulness, wisdom, and practice.
- Support community activations (e.g., reposts, Q&As, live sessions) as directed by the creative team.
Content Support
- Assist in drafting captions, selecting clips, and preparing posts based on direction from the creative and brand teams.
- Organize and maintain our social content library and posting calendar.
- Support in sourcing and curating UGC or creator-style content to bring authenticity to our feed.
Reporting & Insights
- Track weekly engagement metrics (saves, shares, reach, follower growth) and flag what’s resonating.
- Surface community feedback, recurring themes, and opportunities for deeper connection.

Ideal Experience
- 3–5 years in social media coordination and community management (ideally within a purpose-driven, wellness, or educational brand)
- Deep familiarity with social platforms and trends — especially Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
- Strong writing skills and ability to adapt tone to a mindful, intelligent brand voice
- Organized, dependable, and responsive communicator
- Curious, emotionally intelligent, and aligned with the Waking Up ethos
