About the role

 

 

The Dispute Management Division (DMD) operates within WorkSafe’s Insurance Business Unit and has the   primary responsibility for the management of common law, statutory benefits disputes, third party recovery claims and associated litigation.

 

As the Legal Administration & Policy Officer, you will provide administrative support to Senior Managers, Senior Legal Counsel and a Senior Insurance Officer. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administration support and to build relationships with key external stakeholders to ensure queries are responded to in a timely manner while maintaining a high level of service.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Receive and respond to queries from legal panel firms and triage queries to relevant team members when required
  • Providing specialist guidance and support to Legal Panel firms and internal stakeholders on Common Law practices including policy and processes
  • Prepare reports, briefs and correspondence, both of a general and confidential nature and provide recommendations for review by Senior Managers and Senior Legal Counsel within the Division
  • Identifying opportunities to improve performance when developing and implementing programs, policies and measures to address these opportunities
  • Manage the divisional Document Control Register and assist to revise relevant legal policies in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Provide high level administrative support to business processes conducted within DMD

Your strengths will also include your organisational, attention to detail, prioritisation and deadline management skills. You will also be a strong team collaborator and have excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

 

 

Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:

 

  • An understanding of the legal system and litigation process
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise on a professional level with a diverse client/stakeholder group
  • Intermediate-advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and email
  • Sound problem-solving skills and sound judgement to escalate or address issues autonomously
  • Ability to develop an understanding of different database and caseflow systems
  • Discussion and dissemination of legal policy and case learnings
  • High level of keyboard accuracy and an eye for detail
