Director, Head of Life Insurance Products presso Luma Financial Technologies

Position Overview

Luma Financial Technologies is seeking a highly strategic and entrepreneurial Director, Head of Life Insurance Products to lead the expansion and ongoing development of Luma’s life insurance business. This senior leadership role will oversee all aspects of the life insurance product line including carrier partnerships, platform enablement, and distribution strategy to drive adoption and growth across wealth management channels.

The ideal candidate will combine deep life insurance expertise with strong business acumen, leadership ability, and a passion for modernizing how life insurance is distributed and transacted through technology. This position plays a central role in defining and executing Luma’s long-term strategy in the life insurance space.

Please note: Depending on the successful candidate's location, this position is expected to work 2-3 days/week from Luma's New York, NY or Cincinnati, OH office.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

• Define and execute the strategic vision for Luma’s life insurance business, with full ownership of growth initiatives, carrier expansion, and distribution engagement.
• Develop a comprehensive roadmap for life insurance platform capabilities, ensuring alignment across product, technology, and business development teams.
• Drive measurable results around revenue growth, advisor adoption, and carrier participation.
• Serve as the internal and external face of Luma’s life insurance offering, representing the business at key industry events, client meetings, and partnership discussions.

Carrier & Distribution Partnership Development

• Build and strengthen executive-level relationships with top life insurance carriers working in close partnership with Luma’s Head of Insurance Partnerships to ensure cohesive carrier engagement and alignment across all product lines.
• Collaborate with the Head of Insurance Product Sales to drive distribution sales strategy, ensuring life insurance products are effectively positioned and supported across Luma’s distribution network.
• Partner with distribution clients to ensure seamless platform onboarding, workflow optimization, and ongoing engagement.

Product & Platform Enablement

• Partner with Luma’s product, technology, and operations teams to prioritize and deliver innovative life insurance features.
• Provide product and market feedback to guide development priorities and ensure an exceptional user experience.
• Support the creation of training, education, and marketing materials that drive awareness and platform utilization.

Operational & Financial Management

• Oversee business performance, including P&L metrics, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
• Define and track KPIs across platform usage, advisor adoption, and carrier engagement.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards while promoting best practices in digital life insurance distribution.

Qualifications & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in life insurance product management, carrier or distributor leadership, or fintech platform strategy.
• Strong understanding of life insurance product types (Term, UL, IUL, VUL, Whole Life) and associated distribution models.
• Proven success in building or scaling a business line, managing carrier relationships, and driving technology adoption.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; experience working with executive stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
