ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Support Data & Analytics Engineer, you’ll provide essential reporting and data support for 500+ stores and key business units, including Finance, Operations, Fuel Pricing, Merchandising, Business Assurance, and People & Culture. You’ll manage and resolve ServiceNow support tickets by identifying root causes, re-running pipelines, validating data quality, and working with upstream system owners to fix data or logic issues.
You’ll also perform analytical investigations to detect issues, anomalies, and trends, collaborating closely with the wider EG Australia Support Team to ensure accurate and reliable information management.
RESPONSIBILITIES IN A SNAPSHOT:
Reporting into the Head of Information Management you will:
- Monitor and action support tickets daily in the ServiceNow queue, along with investigating the underlying trends and anomalies
- Liaise with internal users and escalate more complex issues to senior engineers or development teams
- Processing ensuring all data processing is completed in a timely manner to ensure downstream reporting and analytics are up to date
- Design, test and implement effective and scalable data pipelines, leveraging cutting-edge tools such as LucidCharts (to design), SQL (to build) and Azure Data Factory (to schedule)
- Design, test and implement effective and scalable data pipelines in Azure Data Factor
- Enhance and maintain data storage and processing solutions, across data warehouses and data lakes using Azure.
- Automate data analysis and reporting processes, utilising various tools and scripts
- Support data governance through implementing best practices around code documentation, naming conventions, data glossaries and data mapping
- Partner with stakeholders to translate complex business problems into fit-for-purpose and scalable data pipelines and data models, to enable fast and efficient data-driven decision-making
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- A Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 4 years of experience in a data engineering or analytics role, with a strong foundation in working with complex data systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a natural curiosity for digging into data and identifying solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and manage stakeholders effectively
- A proactive and collaborative approach, you work well independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Snowflake and advanced SQL scripting, along with intermediate skills in a programming language such as Python
- Hands-on experience with ETL and scheduling tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, PowerAutomate, or similar platforms
- A solid understanding of data modelling principles, practices, and methodologies
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, standards, and best-practice guidance
- Demonstrated expertise in database design, Master Data Management (MDM), and building high-performance, scalable data pipelines
