SUMMARY:
The “Director of ELA Curriculum” at National Heritage Academies (NHA) reports to the executive director of curriculum and professional development and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of NHA ELA curriculum and program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the team of twenty-six ELA, EL, and Intervention curriculum specialists that provide support and professional development to teachers and leaders at all schools.
- Provide vision and direction for ELA instruction for all National Heritage Academies (NHA) schools.
- Lead the alignment of NHA’s curriculum, instructional practices, assessments and professional development to state and college readiness standards.
- Work to enhance teacher quality through the curriculum and professional development (C&PD) department’s direct coaching at schools.
- Select NHA’s ELA curricular tools and assess the effectiveness of each.
- Research best practices with regards to ELA curriculum, professional development, AI and student learning.
- With the C&PD leadership team, support the development of custom training and professional development solutions to meet each school’s individual learning.
- Collaborate as needed with other teams in school quality, school leadership development, and information & analytics.
- The ability to travel is required; approximately 25% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in curriculum, instruction, and/or teaching, or equivalent formal training in the field of Education preferred.
- A combination of at least 5 – 10 years of experience in teaching, school leadership, and/or district level administration.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in ELA curriculum, instruction, and training at the elementary, middle, and high school level.
- Strong leadership skills and the proven ability to manage and motivate a team to achieve organizational goals.
- Ability to develop and implement a clear vision for ELA instruction and achieve buy-in from diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a style that is both assertive and direct, as well as supportive and collaborative.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and in diverse school settings.
- Past experience working in a charter environment and/or a desire for the model.
- Experience working with AI in education is preferred.
This is an in-person position at our NHA Service Center located at 3850 Broadmoor Ave., Grand Rapids, MI.
