Primary Purpose of Role
The Marketing/Communications Intern supports the development and execution of branding, marketing, and communication initiatives across digital platforms. This role assists with content creation, social media, design work, website updates, and internal/external communications to help grow brand awareness and support organizational goals. This role can work a flexible part-time or full-time schedule either in-person at our Raleigh office or hybrid (office and home).
Requirements
Key Responsibilities/Critical Functions
Marketing Support
- Assist with planning and executing marketing campaigns, social media calendars, and promotional activities.
- Conduct research on industry trends, competitor strategies, and audience insights.
- Support email marketing, newsletters, and outreach efforts.
- Help track campaign performance metrics and prepare summary reports.
Content Creation
- Draft engaging content for social media, blogs, newsletters, and website updates.
- Assist with video scripts, voiceovers, captions, and basic editing (if applicable).
- Create templates for presentations, proposals, or internal communications.
Graphic & Digital Design
- Design social media graphics, marketing materials, flyers, and digital assets following brand guidelines.
- Update visual elements across channels to maintain cohesive branding.
- Support website content updates, landing pages, and basic design changes.
- Assist in maintaining visual brand identity (colors, typography, imagery, layout).
Communications & Brand Messaging
- Draft clear, polished internal and external communications.
- Assist with press releases, announcements, and company updates.
- Ensure messaging is consistent and aligned with the brand’s tone, values, and voice.
- Proofread content to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
Social Media Management
- Manage content scheduling on platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.
- Monitor engagement metrics and respond to comments/messages as appropriate.
- Brainstorm new social media strategies to increase reach and brand visibility.
- Research hashtags, trends, and industry best practices.
Event & Campaign Support
- Assist with webinars, community events, recruitment campaigns, or client presentations.
- Help prepare materials, invitations, digital media, or collateral needed for events.
- Support photography or behind-the-scenes content capture when applicable.
Administrative & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Maintain organized digital assets, content libraries, and version-controlled files.
- Collaborate with marketing, HR, operations, and leadership teams on cross-functional projects.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
Qualifications:
Education
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Business, Digital Media, or related field.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), or similar tools.
- Basic knowledge of social media management tools (Hootsuite, Later, Buffer, etc.).
- Comfortable writing and editing professional content.
- Bonus: experience with video editing (CapCut, Premiere Pro), website builders (Squarespace, Wix, WordPress), or CRM tools.
