Your Role
As an External Account Manager – Nutrition (Food), you will play a key role in maintaining and expanding Brenntag Ghana’s footprint within the Food and Nutrition sector. You will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of key customers, building long-term relationships, and identifying new business opportunities that drive profitable growth.
This role blends technical expertise, customer partnership, and commercial acumen to deliver innovative ingredient and formulation solutions aligned with Brenntag’s strategic objectives and global supplier network.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of within the Food and Nutrition division.
- Maintain and strengthen existing customer relationships while identifying opportunities to expand product portfolios across applications such as bakery, beverages, dairy, confectionery, and savoury solutions.
- Prospect and develop new business opportunities in alignment with divisional growth targets and market trends.
- Achieve sales and gross profit objectives while ensuring sustainable margin and portfolio growth.
- Conduct regular customer visits (minimum of 25–30 per month) to ensure high engagement and service excellence.
- Collaborate with internal technical, logistics, and supply chain teams to manage product availability, pricing, and service delivery.
- Stay abreast of new product innovations, market developments, and supplier updates through ongoing technical and commercial training.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports, forecasts, and customer activity plans on time and with accuracy.
- Represent Brenntag Ghana at industry events, customer workshops, and technical seminars to enhance brand and market visibility.
- Adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and safety procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate is a commercially driven food industry professional who combines technical understanding of ingredients and formulations with strong customer relationship skills. You thrive on developing new markets and introducing innovative supplier solutions that create measurable value for customers.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a consultative sales approach.
- Solid understanding of food ingredients, formulations, and applications within Ghana’s food manufacturing and processing industries.
- Excellent negotiation, planning, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with CRM systems (SAP knowledge advantageous).
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel frequently across the region
Experience
- 5–8 years’ experience in food ingredients sales, technical sales, or account management within the food manufacturing or distribution sector.
- Demonstrated success in growing key accounts and developing new business opportunities.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical, logistics, and supplier teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Food Technology /Nutrition, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification or business-related certification will be advantageous.
