SUMMARY:
The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for client advocacy, information, referral, and navigation services related to Alcohol use disorder /Opioid use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery. As the first point of contact for clients, the Recovery Support Specialist connects them to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder services, other SFRC programs, and community-based resources to support health and wellness. This role also includes assisting clients in enrolling in health insurance programs to maximize opportunities to bill for services and ensure access to comprehensive care. The Recovery Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the service enrollment process by engaging clients, collecting essential information, advocating for the client, and ensuring a smooth transition through a warm handoff to direct service staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the initial point of contact for clients, providing a warm welcome, explaining the agency’s services, and onboarding clients into Medications for Opioid Use Disorder program services.
Assist clients in determining eligibility and enrolling in health insurance programs to maximize billing opportunities and improve access to care.
Maintain thorough knowledge of the Medications for Opioid Use Disorder program to provide accurate information to clients, partners, and the community.
Perform key functions to support Medications for Opioid Use Disorder program success, including patient outreach via phone, community partner engagement, in-office encounters, coordination of patient activities, and appropriate utilization of services.
Schedule client appointments for Medications for Opioid Use Disorder services, including intake, follow up, and provider visits.
Take vital signs and conduct Urine Drug Screens for Medications for Opioid Use Disorder program clients.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including intake forms, consent forms, and insurance documentation.
Coordinate communication between clinic staff, providers, and external partners.
Prepare and manage clinic paperwork, reports, and documentation for compliance and audits.

Track and monitor appointment attendance and follow-up needs.
Collaborate with staff across departments and external agencies to ensure clients receive coordinated, wraparound services, including advocacy with service providers, employers, or community partners.
Work with administrative assistant to maintaining clinic inventory, supplies, and office equipment.
Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
Maintain ethical standards and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
1. Excellent customer service skills.
2. Detail-oriented and organized.
3. Computer literate, including advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with EHR & CRM systems.
4. Works well with diverse populations.
5. Must attend all Mandatory Staff Meetings and/or workshops as required.
6. Must have and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license, insurance, and a clean driving record.
Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
2. Strong teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts from operational teams within the organization.
3. At least two years working with the Substance Use Disorder population in a clinical setting, outpatient setting, or care coordination experience is preferred.
4. Basic Life Support Certified.
5. Experience working with federal grants preferred.
6. Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred (English/Spanish) (English/Navajo).
7. Valid and insurable Driver’s License based on the SFRC insurance standards
