The Corporate Director of Investment and Business Development plays a key role in shaping the company’s growth by optimizing existing assets and driving data-informed investment decisions. This role blends financial acumen with a deep understanding of hospitality operations and development strategy to support Makeready’s expanding portfolio of hotels, restaurants, and mixed-use projects.


Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Corporate Director will collaborate closely with Managing Directors to enhance operational performance, build strong partnerships, and ensure consistent service delivery throughout the portfolio. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise and passion for hotel operations, exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

 

Requested Tasks

  • Conduct and oversee in-depth market research and feasibility studies to evaluate new investment opportunities and optimize performance of existing assets
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable investment plans, balancing portfolio growth with risk management.
  • Lead the creation and review of comprehensive financial models, proformas, and investment packets to assess potential acquisitions, developments, and repositioning opportunities.
  • Oversee return-on-investment (ROI) analyses, scenario planning, and ad-hoc financial studies to inform executive decision-making.
  • Monitor the performance of the company’s investment portfolio, identifying trends, underperforming assets, and opportunities for value creation or capital reallocation.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team, fostering collaboration, analytical rigor, and professional growth.
  • Serve as a liaison between ownership, property leaders, and external partners, ensuring transparency, alignment, and timely communication across all stages of project development.
  • Support budgeting processes and long-range forecasting, integrating market insights and operational feedback into corporate financial planning.
  • Prepare and present detailed performance reports, market updates, and strategic proposals to senior executives.
  • Oversee the organization and integrity of the business development database and reporting systems to ensure data-driven decision-making.

 

Requested Capabilities

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in hospitality investment, real estate finance, or business development.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills (Excel proficiency required; Argus experience preferred).
  • Deep understanding of hotel operations, P&L structures, and asset management principles.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with executive-level polish.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for hospitality and place-making.
